Shupe Seeks Reelection to State House

It has been an honor to represent you over the last year in the Delaware General Assembly. I have been humbled by not only the support of residents in our community, but their willingness to help get the job done. With your help we have created community-driven solutions to challenges that we face right here in the 36th District.

Through personal conversations, public meetings and in my office in Dover, I have heard you. In just one short year, we have addressed concerns including quality healthcare opportunities, workforce development, infrastructure rehabilitation and clean water. We have addressed these challenges and built plans to ensure their long-term success.

Our options for access to quality healthcare continue to grow through partners like Bayhealth Sussex Campus, Nemours Pediatric & Senior Care, Nationwide Healthcare Services and La Red Heath Center. We are attracting more physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers through workforce development programs while reducing healthcare costs.

Our program to focus on vocational workforce training, the Funding for Alternative Skills Training (FAST) Act, has gained bi-partisan support as we aim to help families build skills to begin rewarding careers. Programs that embrace our vocational careers allow our local families to become financially independent and give them the opportunity to write their own future.

In addition to large infrastructure projects like the Route 1 and 14 Overpass in Milford, together we continue to address the rehabilitation of our local roads and add safety measures in our communities. A comprehensive plan for Route 30 from Milford to Milton will soon be released for public comment early this year and streets in bad repair like SE 2nd Street will receive their long-awaited overhaul.

My team has met with many residents in our communities to address concerns with access to clean water. We have walked door to door asking residents to participate in our free water testing program for wells and connected residents in need with State agencies that can help.  Strongly supporting more oversight and protections from wastewater disposal, I have successfully advocated for a real-time monitoring system in our district that will be launched this year.

We have made impressive strides to expand quality healthcare opportunities, strengthen workforce development, rehabilitate our infrastructure and improve access to clean water but our work is not finished. With my knowledge, a proven track record of success and your continued support, I am seeking reelection to serve another term as your State Representative in the 36th District. Together we can continue to drive progress and build upon the success in our communities.
