It is an honor to be awarded 2002 Legislator of the Year by the Delaware Recreation & Parks Society. Our Milford Parks and Recreation Department nominated me for the support and funding of the final phase of the Mispillion Riverwalk including Goat Island, the floating kayak dock on the Mispillion River, the recent rehabilitation of the Mispillion Riverwalk on the west end, rehabilitation of the Milford Little League fields, and the new Downtown Playgorund.
My love for the parks is deep rooted in our family. My father was a seasonal park ranger at the Seashore Parks when I was a child and my first job while in high school was hauling trash and cutting grass under the Milford Parks & Rec Department. Thank you to the countless park staff and volunteers across the First State that place the highest level of importance on preserving our natural resources.
