City Council’s Shupe to run for mayor of Milford

Milford City Councilman Bryan Shupe announced in a press release Wednesday that he filed to be a candidate in April 26 election for the town’s top job.

Milford City Councilman Bryan Shupe will run for mayor this spring. In a press release, Shupe said he filed Wednesday to be a candidate in April 26 election for the town’s top job. No other candidates have yet filed and Mayor Joseph “Ronnie” Rogers has not indicated whether or not he will seek re-election. The filing deadline is Feb. 25. Shupe currently represents Ward I as a councilman and is a member of the Economic Development, Infrastructure and Community Affairs Committees.

He graduated from Milford High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Delaware. Shupe owns and operates two local businesses, the digital news site Milford Live and Fur-Baby Boutique & Doggie Daycare, which he opened with his fiancée Sherry Shaffer.

“As mayor I will pursue economic development with a purpose, bringing industries and businesses that support and create middle class jobs,” he said in the press release. “Milford will attract jobs that grant individuals the ability to purchase homes and start families; families that will prosper here in Milford for generations to come.

“I will be an active ambassador for the town of Milford promoting a strong downtown that can act as a catalyst for both economic growth and a sense of fellowship throughout our city,” he added.
