Funding school safety when emergencies happen, as the State has done in the past, is not a strategic plan for security or improving our communities. In May I will be introducing legislation that provides all schools with funding for School Resource Officers at a 70% state, 30% local split (the average funding split for teachers across the state). These officers are not only trained law enforcement professionals that can protect students in case of emergencies but also have proven in schools like Milford to build relationships with students and provide positive interactions with kids and law enforcement on a daily basis.
Stay tuned for the legislation on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/BryanShupeDelaware.
