Call To Rescind Referendum Saves Taxpayers Money
It was rewarding working with my colleagues Councilmen Owen Brooks and Dirk Gleysteen on the Public Works Committee. We were able to take a closer look at the City’s finances and recommend to council that we use $1.8 million in water reserves to pay for the needed water improvements this year. This move helped the City to rescind the call for referendum, saving the citizens money as we avoided a proposed increase to residents’ water utility bills.
“It’s still our duty after we make a decision to keep looking for what might be a better answer.” Councilman Bryan Shupe, quoted in the Milford Beacon.
