Thank you Madeleine Overturf of WRDE for covering this BIG day for healthcare in Sussex County.
Bayhealth President and CEO Terry Murphy called the morning bittersweet. “I was over in the Milford hospital at midnight last night walking through, so there’s a lot of sadness because of all the years of care that have been given,” he says. “But everyone, the 3500 employees across our system are so excited to be part of something that’s new and just a real prize for the state.”
State Representative Bryan Shupe calls the over $300 million facility exciting for Milford and the economy at large.
“This is a job creator here in Sussex County not only for the Sussex Bayhealth Campus for the hospital, but Nemours pediatrics and senior care will start construction in May on this campus as well,” Shupe tells WRDE. “Bayhealth did an absolutely wonderful job finding a tenant for the now former hospital as well that will bring 300 plus full time jobs to the area for skilled nursing facilities.”
