Creating Transparency in Our Local Elections
Political Action Committees (PACs) are often used as a way for individuals and organizations to donate large sums of money to candidates while hiding their true interests and donors.
In the last election cycle, across Sussex County, we saw a group called Preserve Sussex. From the name, you’d think they stand for responsible growth or protecting our natural heritage and farmland. But surprisingly, their major donors were developers — some of whom have a track record of abusing the rights of our residents right here in our district.
That’s why I am introducing a bill that will require real transparency for PAC donations. Under this bill, any time a PAC sends out campaign material, they’ll have to include a public website that clearly lists all of their donors and donation amounts.
This means that when you receive a political mailer or see an ad, you’ll be able to immediately see who’s really funding it. No more waiting months to find out the truth.
Equal reporting rules for PACs and individual donors.
Real access to financial transparency.
Empowering voters with the facts.
It’s time to hold these PACs accountable. True transparency ensures that no one can hide their intentions in our local races. #Transparency#Accountability#Delaware
